4 Functions of Testosterone in Men

Most of us know about Testosterone as an important hormone in men. But many aren’t aware of the significance of this hormone and the role it plays in various bodily functions. When men reach puberty age, the level of testosterone is at the peak and there is roughly 30 times more testosterone than before puberty. This is the stage where a boy becomes man and testosterone is the prime catalyst in this process.

However, as we grow older the levels of testosterone again start to drop. The testosterone cycle can be best described as a bell curve. Once the puberty phase is gone, testosterone level starts to fall. This is a natural cycle, and nobody can stop it but in many cases the levels of testosterone drop to such a level that there is a deficiency of the hormone. In such cases, there are a lot of problems which arise due to testosterone deficiency like a decrease in energy level, loss of muscle mass, fat gain, low libido, reduction in bone density and so on.

Now, let’s look at the 4 main functions of testosterone in men:

1. Reduction of subcutaneous fat and building of muscle mass

This is probably the core function. Fitness trainers & nutritionists recommend testosterone supplements in addition to usual protein shakes. Increase in testosterone directly impacts muscle growth. Testosterone also cuts down subcutaneous fat which is hard to shed using dieting or workout.

2. Better cardiovascular health

Testosterone has an important function of maintaining healthy heart condition. It does this by doing two things. Firstly, testosterone promotes RBC production via bone marrow, thus helping in increasing the volume of blood.

Secondly, Testosterone strengthens arterial lining by widening them. This helps in smooth blood flow and better functioning of the heart. Studies have shown that men with increased testosterone levels have chances of heart attacks reduced by 24{fb9a4be0d6494174e6be9660e119e25a878ea9b5c7f2169440a84f81fc131373}.

3. Higher bone density

The amount of physical strain that a man can take is directly dependent on strength of his bones. People with strong bones can train more and can undergo more intense physical activities. The thing is that bone density is controlled by testosterone. With aging, bone density decreases along with testosterone. So, when you take testosterone booster, it automatically helps in increasing bone density.

4. Improvement in libido

This function of testosterone is very well known. The amount of testosterone in the body determines the sex drive. With an increase in testosterone in the body, other functions take some time to take effect, but the first reaction is an improvement in libido.

Luckily, testosterone deficiency can easily be treated by undergoing hormone replacement therapy or by taking testosterone supplement pills. Replacement therapy is costly and has some other side effects, so it is better to stick to pills. Testogen is a reputed brand made from natural ingredients, you can see Testogen results in a few weeks. Also, since there are no artificial or synthetic substances used in Testogen, it is devoid of any side effects.
