Our bodies are resilient and when you train your body at home with your healthy diet and smart choices, your body will get back on track much faster when you get home after your vacation.
Some people feel nervous about breaking their habit on vacation and can’t enjoy their days to the fullest. Luckily, there are simple tips and tricks to follow when you’re back from vacation, they will help you feel amazing.
Drink more water than before
When most people are back from their vacation, their bodies are dehydrated. Flying, more alcohol, fresh water, sunshine and other changes are stressful for the body. It’s really important to drink a lot of water after a vacation to help your body get back on track.
I usually drink 2 liters of water after vacation, but you should listen to your body. Some people need 3 liters, some people have 2 cups of water and that’s enough. Your hydration levels are ok when you want to pee every hour. It will help you feel great and help your digestion get back on track. Not to mention that you flush out toxins.
Double the amount of greens
I usually eat a lot of greens and I think you should do this as well if you haven’t added them to your diet already. Add leafy greens for at least 3 days right after the vacations. Greens have dozens of benefits for your body, here are some of the main ones:
- alkalizing the body
- flooding us with nutrients
- support digestion (especially fiber-rich greens)
- some plants are high in proteins
- packed with detoxifying nutrients such as chlorophyll
If you don’t know where to start, I recommend preparing a smoothie bowl in the morning, Buddha bowl at lunch and green salad at dinner. This can be boring at the beginning, but it does wonders for your body.
Add Algae to your daily supplement intake
I usually don’t have algae every day, but every time I’m back from vacation I add this to every meal. I like spirulina and chlorella and they are really easy to add to any diet. You can experiment with Algae types to choose the one you like. You can also take it as a pill or just add Algae to your smoothies.
Algae is one of the most famous superfoods because it’s rich in vitamins, antioxidants, minerals, and protein. It’s a great detoxifier and can promote cell growth, reduce inflammation and boost energy levels.
Reduce the amount of alcohol and added sugars
During vacation, most of us consume more alcohol and unhealthy foods than before, so it’s a good time to get a break and fill your body with healthy foods. Give yourself a 10-day break after vacation, or try to reduce its consumption to a minimum.
Sugar isn’t any better than alcohol. Most of us drink sugar drinks during vacation, so it’s recommended to have 5-7 days without sweets. Fruits are fine, of course, just skip your favorite chocolate bars and don’t bake cookies or other sugary treats.
This might be not the first thing you should do, but it will help you feel the benefits of other methods you’re using. It’s easier to hydrate your body when you don’t consume alcohol and sweets. So choose anything that works best for you and limit unhealthy things that aren’t necessary for your everyday life.
Work out more
After vacation, I usually have a lot of energy that I like spending in a gym. I also do home workouts and visit saunas. Sweating will detoxify your body and help it get back on track faster.
Gym and working out isn’t a punishment for you and your lifestyle. It’s a help that will make your body feel good and “normal” very quickly. All you need to do is to work out for 5 days after vacation and your skin, brain, and digestion will be very thankful.
