Spiritual Protection

The Importance of Spiritual Protection

Well, I understand everyone knows what protection means. There are many areas to apply this too, there are many concepts to the word in general, but I want to focus on the importance of using protection in the Spiritual/Pagan Concept.

Why use protection in the first place? Why do you cast a circle before doing a spell? Why is there a need to shield yourself from certain people? These are only a few questions that I hope to answer throughout this article. I honestly believe that “Spiritual Protection” is something most of us do either consciously or subconsciously every day.

If you don’t know or don’t want to do it on your own I would suggest absolutely free psychic reading @OnlinePsychic.eu for guidance as they have a lot of experiences in this field.

What can happen without protection? & Why use protection in the first place?

When you are doing any kind of Spiritual work whether it is spells, rituals or healing work-there could be “Forces” that could interfere and may not have your best interest at heart in regards to the spell, ritual or healing work you are doing.

When you are a Sensitive/Empath, without protecting your energy there are possibilities is that you could have things attached to you. It could harm you emotionally, spiritually and/or even your psyche. As an example, when certain things attach to you it could cause, depression, sadness, chaos, anger, or fatigue.

There are also Energy Vampires – YES they are real and they can leave you feeling totally drained. They have the experience to attach their energy to yours and drink in your energy. Your energy provides substance to them as food and water do to others.

Keep in mind that these are only a few examples of things that are possible when you do not use proper protection to protect yourself while doing any kind of Spiritual work.

So What can you do?

When it comes to using items for protection to be very honest I am not sure how it came to be, except to say that bits of information have always been passed down generation to generation. Legends are passed down and people who are attuned to nature can hear Spiritual messages from plants, gems and they share this information by writing books.

We will read ideas in books and trust what the author is trying to teach us. Often we will trust our own intuition as well. So this brings me to this conclusion, if you feel and believe by carrying a bean in your pocket will bring you protection and makes you feel safe, who am I to doubt that?

I am not the type of person who follows recipes or guidelines on how things should and NEED to be done. What I do is follow my intuition and messages from my Spirit Guides. I may find a few examples of books that I will incorporate into whatever I am doing. Sometimes I will get feelings or hear stories that just feel right to me and I refer to those as “Truths”. Just an example White Sage-this herb is used for cleansing and driving away negativity. I have been told by “Elders” that White Sage is the warrior, and it will drive away unwanted energies you carry on you or that are in your space.

I have used White Sage for so many years, and have seen it worked so many times that I believe it but I am not alone in my beliefs in White Sage. Once in my shop in Indiana, I had a group of people come in and asked if I was just burning White Sage, I answered yes and they just smiled. Well, they wanted to know if I could order them a certain amount, which I did.

The things I use for protection works great for me because I only use things that I fully believe in. Whatever technique you use, it will only work for you, if you fully believe it will work without any question or doubt! I am going to list a few things I believe strongly in with a short description. I hope if nothing else, this article will encourage you to research more on the importance of using protection before you do any kind of Spiritual Work.

Witches Knot

The Witches knot is a common symbol in folk magic and is considered a symbol of protection against malevolent witchcraft. Many people back in the Middle Ages used to scratch the symbol over the doorways to their homes to protect their homes from evil/negativity entering it. The circle is one of the primary female symbols representing the sacred space.

The Pentacle or Pentagram

The Pentacle or Pentagram: Is a standard symbol for witches. The four bottom points represent the four elements: (Earth, Air, Fire, and Water) and the fifth point represents the Divine Spirit-All that Is. A pentagram is drawn at the beginning of a ritual to set a witches protection and positive power. If you do not have a physical pentagram, you can draw on in the air by using your index finger or athame. Many people will draw the pentagram differently either starting at the top point or the point to the left-hand side, but the MOST important thing when drawing a pentagram is to make sure it is drawn in one complete motion and never stopped.

Herbs and Sea Salt

I am going to list some things that I have always used. Please understand that this list does not even touch a fraction of the herbs available that is used for Protection spells, rituals, amulets, and healings.

Sea Salt – Used for purification, protection, and cleansing. It is said that if you put a line of sea salt across your door, nothing evil or negative can enter your home.

White Sage – Used for cleansing and smudging

Angelica Root, Anise Seed, Bilberry, Blessed Thistle, Burdock, Calendula Flowers, Cinquefoil, Elecampane, Juniper Berries, Lotus leaf, Marshmallow, Mugwort, Rosemary, Valerian Root, Turmeric, Cinnamon, Mullein, Lavender

So what on Earth can you do with these items? Too many things to list but I will be posting regular updates so be sure to bookmark this lens and check back often.

I have been asked many times if I would go to a new home and do a house blessing. I am a FIRM believer that it is important for you to put YOUR OWN energy into your new home. So I would write out things for them and had them go home to do it, and each time I am sent a letter or called telling me how much they appreciated the way I handled the request.

This is something I try to do in each place I live, and everyone who comes into my home knows it is MY home. I always begin by walking through the home smudging it with white sage. You light some white sage in a fireproof container, walk through the home and allow the smoke to cleanse the area. Ask your spirit guides to guide you. I have also smudge all around my home on the outside.

Many times I will follow up Sweetgrass, and ask for sweet blessings to come into the home. I will put angelica root and lavender in all of the corners of the outside and I place a line of sea salt at each window and door entrances.
